During our ridiculously snowy winter this year (we had 79 inches of snow, when our average is 19 inches) when the ground was covered in a white blanket from December to March, my #4 child and I discussed selling flowers in front of our house, just for fun. She is the only one of my six children who seems to love the soil as much as I do, and works along side me willingly – sometimes voluntarily! So I wanted her to get a sense of making money at what she loves, as an investment in her future. But soon the idea expanded – "Why not sell at the 4H farmer’s market, too? And Hey! Some flowers are edible! What about selling edible bouquets? Gosh, we ought to offer a recipe for how to use borage. I know! A website! We can attach a card to each bouquet, with our website on it!" And so, this blog was born. We hope you gain pleasure from our many features, including recipes, crafts, book reviews, plant reviews, and other musings. I hope you will enjoy our family endeavor!

AuthorWelcome to Growing Goodness! This website is dedicated to growing good things, both plants and children. It's a gardening blog with maternal overtones, as I discuss the goodness and value of plants, both wild and domestic. In the process I hope to help you pass a love of nature on to your children.
